The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 136 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested. Two of the three people were charged with being intoxicated in a public place.
Man Charged with Theft CK16018794
On June 22, 2016 the man entered the Salvation Army store on St. Clair Street in Chatham and began viewing collector coins in a display case. He reached over the counter, opened the sliding door to the display case and stole a silver American Liberty Coin valued at $50. As the man fled the store, employees took note of the vehicle he was driving.
Through investigation, police learned the man’s identity and he was arrested yesterday afternoon. Terrence Christian, 65 years, of Ridge Line Road in Ridgetown was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of July 26, 2016.

This morning around 3:00 a.m. police responded to an alarm at Town and Country Meats on Hill Road. Unknown suspect(s) forced their way into the business causing about $100 to a window. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $35 worth of meat.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Blenheim CK16018887
Yesterday morning at 10:00 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Sandys Street near Talbot Street.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $4000.
A 37-year-old Morpeth man was charged with careless driving.

Last night, around 10:20 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on St. Clair Street near Pioneer Line.
Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.
A 59-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with making a left turn while failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.

Sometime Thursday morning between 2:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) damaged mirrors to a vehicle parked on Dauw Avenue. Damage was estimated at $400.

CK16018880 – Sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered a vehicle parked on Tweedsmuir Avenue West and stole cash and personal identification.
CK16018971 – Sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered a vehicle parked on Paisley Court and stole an iPod Touch.
