Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 24July2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 115 calls for service in the last 24 Hours. 3 people were arrested.

On July 23rd, 2016 at approximately 8:30a.m. a 23 year old Chatham women, wanted on outstanding warrants for possessing counterfeit money and uttering counterfeit money, turn herself into police. She was arrested and release by way of a Promise to Appear with a future court date of Tuesday August 9th, 2016 at 9:00a.m.

On July 23rd, 2016 at approximately 2:00p.m. police attended to an address on King Street in the city of Chatham with regards to a domestic dispute. The victim provided a statement to police explaining that the accused male had caused damage to property in the residence as well as threatened her. The 28 year old Chatham male was later located, arrested for Mischief under $5000 and utter threats to cause bodily harm, and held pending a bail hearing.

On July 23rd, 2016 at approximately 5:42a.m.the Chatham-Kent Police responded to Swiss Chalet on Kiel Drive in the city of Chatham, as a citizen observed the front door to be smashed. Damage to the property is valued at approximately $300, and two soft drink beverages were removed from the property.

On July 23rd, 2016 at approximately 11:00a.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Thirteenth Line in Raleigh Township. It was determined that early in the day the driver of the vehicle was travelling home when he fell asleep behind the wheel of the vehicle and crashed into a large ditch. The driver, a 36 year old Chatham male was charge with careless driving and fail to remain at scene of collision.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind motorist that drowsiness has been identified as a causal factor in a growing number of collisions resulting in injury and fatality. Tired drivers can be as impaired as drunk drivers. They have a slower reaction time and are less alert. If you feel fatigued please pull off the road and park your vehicle in a safe, secure place, and have a rest.
