Man Arrested for Violating Conditions – CK16001935
At 2:38 a.m. this morning, police attended the Retro Suites hotel in response to a disturbance.
A man had been involved in an argument with a woman in one of the rooms and hotel staff were attempting to remove him from the lobby. Upon arrival officers located the man and learned that he was bound by a variety of conditions that included house arrest, not to consume alcohol, and to be in the company of his surety. That man was found to be intoxicated and not in the company of his surety.
A 28-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with three counts of failing to comply with a recognizance and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Pair Arrested in Fight – CK16001906
At about 6:30 p.m. last night, a 17-year-old Chatham youth was riding a bicycle in the area of King Street and Third Street in Chatham. Two males, an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old approached him and a consensual fight occurred between the bicycle rider and the 18-year-old. They both knew each other. During the fight, the bicycle rider gained an advantage, and the 16-year-old who had been watching came to the other’s aid. He kicked the bicycle rider in the face, which ended the fight. The 18-year-old then stole the bicycle rider’s hat and phone that had fallen on the ground.
Police were contacted after the incident and later located the suspects.
A 16-year-old Blenheim youth and an 18-year-old Chatham man were arrested and charged with assault, theft, and possession of property obtained by crime. They were released with future courts dates.
Man Arrested for Mischief – CK16001862
At about 10:40 a.m. yesterday, police were called to a residence on Park Street regarding a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, officers found a man standing on the front porch attempting to gain entry to the house. The investigation revealed that the man wanted to gain access to the residence to obtain personal property. It was also learned that he and his ex-girlfriend had been out of town the night before and became involved in an argument while driving home. During the argument, he smashed out a window of the vehicle..
A 24-year-old Chatham has been arrested and charged with mischief. He was released with a future court date.
Police Seeking Assistance with Theft Investigation – CK16001869
The Chatham-Kent police are seeking assistance with a theft that occurred yesterday.
At about 12:05 p.m. police attended the gas bar at the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham. At about 11:48 a.m. a woman described as in her 50’s attended the gas bar in a grey crossover type vehicle. She pumped $30 in gas and drove away without paying.
