The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 122 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Man Charged with Assault CK17009708
Last night just after 9:00 p.m. the man and his girlfriend were inside their residence in Chatham. When the man learned his girlfriend was texting an ex-boyfriend, he grabbed her and would not let go. She tried to push him away from her, but was unable to do so. When the man let go of her, he became belligerent with her and then ripped an item off the wall. Police were called, attended the address and located the man.
The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5000. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
‘Most Wanted’ Arrest CK17009730
Early this morning at approximately 2:00 a.m. the man turned himself in to police. He had been listed on the Chatham-Kent Police Service ‘Most Wanted’ list due to outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Brian Jacques, 34 years, of Wellington Street W. in Chatham was arrested on the warrants. He was then released with a court date of Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Charges CK17003040
On February 7, 2017 members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Section, assisted by the Critical Incident Response Team, conducted a vehicle stop where two Sarnia residents, a 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, along with a Chatham man were located inside the vehicle. A Search Warrant on the vehicle recovered over 17 ounces of methamphetamine, over 9 ounces of cocaine and over 16 ounces of cannabis marihuana.
The three individuals were charged with several Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences and released on a variety of conditions with future Court dates.
On March 21, 2017, the 26-year-old Sarnia man was involved in another vehicle stop in Chatham which resulted in his arrest. He was further charged with three counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing
