Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 23June2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 165 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested. Three of the nine people were arrested on outstanding warrants and two arrests were alcohol related.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16018755

Yesterday morning, a woman contacted police to report incidents of domestic violence. Through investigation, the woman disclosed incidents dating back to 2013 where she was assaulted and threatened by her common-law.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested. The 48-year-old Chatham man has been charged with three counts of forcible confinement, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault and one count of uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK16018795

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham. A verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation as the woman assaulted her husband. He did not require medical attention.

The 55-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and assault. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Mischief CK16018814

Last night, police responded to a mischief complaint at the Abiding House in Chatham. Through investigation, police learned that the man had glued paper over the dome of the surveillance camera at the top of the stairs on the second floor.

Jonathan Boswell, 33 years, of Fourth Street in Chatham was arrested and charged with mischief under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of July 12, 2016.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16018851

On April 1, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to abide by a daily curfew of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Last night at 11:45 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man walking on Parr Street in Blenheim. The 20-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Firearms CK16018784

Sometime yesterday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on St. Clair Parkway just outside of Wallaceburg causing about $1000 damage. Cash, TD cheques, jewelry, 270 hunting rifle, 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, hunting knives and a pellet gun resembling a black .45 caliber revolver were stolen.

Break and Enter in Wallaceburg CK16018848

Last night, sometime between 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Wallace Street and stole approximately $10,000 worth of jewelry and coins.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK16018782

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. yesterday, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand Avenue East near Prince Albert Road.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $5000.

A 33-year-old Morpeth woman was charged with careless driving. The other driver, a 55-year-old Blenheim woman was also charged with offences not related to the collision.
