Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 23Jan2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 101 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Man Arrested for Assault CK17002476

On January 21, 2017 police responded to an address in Chatham due to a report of an assault. At this time a woman reported being assaulted by her common law while at their residence in Harwich Township. Through investigation police learned that the man had also thrown a bicycle helmet at her a few months prior. The woman did not require any medical attention.

Yesterday afternoon, the 40 year old Harwich Township man attended CKPS Headquarters where he was charged with assault and assault with a weapon. He was released with a future court date of February 1, 2017.

Man Arrested for Break and Enter and Assault CK17002532

Early yesterday morning around 3:00 a.m. a woman called police when her ex-boyfriend entered her residence in Chatham through the front door, without permission. While there, he pushed her and bit her on the forehead. She sustained injuries that did not require medical attention. The man fled prior to police arrival.

Police located that 26 year old Chatham man at his residence shortly after 3:00 p.m. He was charged with break and enter and assault. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and Enter CK17002649

This morning shortly after 3:00 a.m. an alarm at a garage on Park Avenue West in Chatham was activated. Upon police arrival, they observed the metal siding removed on the north side of the building. This exposed the drywall which had been damaged enough to create a large hole. The suspect(s) stole a yellow Stanley Tool Box and an orange-coloured drill valued at approximately $500. The total damage value is estimated at $200.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK17002589

Yesterday around 2:30 p.m. officers responded to a two vehicle collision on Alexandria Avenue near Queen Street in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $6000. A 71 year old Chatham man was charged with making an improper right turn.
