Man Charged with Weapon Related Offences CK16004460

Last night around 7:30 p.m. the man approached a family member with a machete and began threatening him outside on Fergie Jenkins Parkway in Chatham The family member was able to disarm the man prior to police arrival. The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. The family member was not injured. The machete was seized by police as evidence.

The 27-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He has been released pending a future court date of March 8, 2016.

Man Charged with Trespassing by Night CK16004480

On December 16, 2015 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Pioneer Line. At 3:50 a.m. officers located the man around a residence in which he did not have permission to be.

The 32-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply and trespassing by night. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16004451

On November 26, 2015 the man was released from custody for the offences of theft under $5000 x2, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 x2 and obstruct peace officer. On February 2, 2016 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Last night, the mas was apprehended in Windsor and transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes. The 26-year-old Windsor man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Counterfeit Money CK16004001 / CK16004096

Last week, police received three counterfeit $50 bills from two local businesses in Chatham. The counterfeit bills had serial numbers of JJ20131022A and JJ20131093A.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16004402

Yesterday morning around 7:00 a.m. police responded to a collision on Patteson Avenue in Chatham.

A 25-year-old Chatham man struck a parked car. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

He was charged with careless driving.
