Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 23April2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 119 calls for service in the past 24 hours. There was 7 arrests. There were 14 False- 911 calls.

Break and Enter – CK17013582

On Saturday, April 23, 2017 at approximately 10:15am police were dispatched to the area of Gillard Street, Wallaceburg in response to a call of a break and enter. Through investigation it was determined that two storage units were entered.

Disturb the Peace CK17013688

On Saturday, April 23, 2017, police were dispatched to attend the Wallace Street area in Wallaceburg in response to a call of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed a male party, clearly intoxicated, shouting and causing the disturbance. The 17 year old Wallaceburg man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place, transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held in custody till he was sober.

Shoplifting CK17013617

ON April 22, 2017 police were dispatched to attend the Canadian Tire store, located at 575 Grand Avenue West, Chatham in response to a call of a shoplifter. Officers met the 20 year old Chatham woman who, observed by store security, stole a can of spray paint, passing several cash registers, never making an attempt to pay, and exiting the store. Through investigation, it was discovered that the accused was breaching previous court orders, of which she was also charged for that.

Mental Health Week

Mental Health Week is an annual national event that takes place May 1 – 7 to encourage people from all walks of life to learn, talk, reflect and engage with others on all issues relating to mental health.

Certain members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be wearing green shirts and attending events within the Municipality in support of Mental Health Week.

As the week approaches, events throughout the Municipality will be listed.

This event will highlight the fitness demands of our Counties brave men and women who serve as Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, and EMS. Teams of 5 will go head to head in 5 grueling “job specific” challenges.

All funds raised will go to support Chatham-Kent Victim Services and National Service Dogs.
