The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 151 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man Charged with Sexual Assault CK16022529
On July 19, 2016 just before noon, a local woman in an electric scooter was stopped in the area of St. Clair Street and Thames Street in Chatham. The man, riding his bike, stopped to talk to the woman, who was unknown to him. During their conversation, he physically touched her in a sexual manner. The woman was able to flee the area. Upon returning home, police were contacted.
Through investigation, police identified the man responsible.
Yesterday morning, the 65-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with sexual assault. He was released pending a future court date of August 10, 2016.
Youth Charged with Failing to Comply CK16022810
Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the youth riding a bicycle on Pioneer Line carrying a backpack. The officer stopped to speak with the youth and through investigation learned that he was in possession of a knife contrary to being on conditions not to possess any knives or weapons.
The 16-year-old Chatham Township youth was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He was released to his parents pending a future court date of August 8, 2016.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK16022858
Last night, police received information about a possible impaired driver in the area of St. Clair Street in Chatham. Police located the man and through investigation believed he was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
David MacDonald, 62 years, of Grand Avenue East in Chatham has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of August 5, 2016.
Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK16022770
Around 9:15 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on McNaughton Avenue East near Victoria Avenue.
Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.
A 69-year-old Chatham man was charged with disobeying a red light.

Shortly after noon yesterday, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Keil Drive South.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $1000.
A 36-year-old Leamington man was charged with an offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Charity Softball Game: Today, members of the CKPS will be playing in a Charity Softball Game against students from St. Clair College. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 p.m. at the baseball diamond near St. Clair College. Everyone is invited to come out and cheer on the teams. Admission is only 2 canned goods which will be donated to our local Outreach for Hunger food bank.
