Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 21Nov2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 126 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested in that time.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant faces additional charges CK16039248/CK16039541

The man was released from custody with conditions to attend a future court date on November 1st 2016. The man failed to attend that court date and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday, November 16th 2016, the man attended a retail store located on Grand Avenue West at which time he was selected several pieces of merchandise which he then fraudulently return and was issued a store gift card. The male then used this gift card over the course of two days and made several purchases using the fraudulently obtained gift card. On Friday, November 18th 2016, police were notified regarding the fraud.

Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant and additionally charged with fraud under $5000. The 28-year-old Chatham man was released with a future court date of Tuesday, December 14th 2016.

Police Looking for the Public’s Assistance CK16039584

Last night around 5:35 p.m. the complainant witnessed a vehicle throw a cat from a moving vehicle in the area of McCreary Line and Dawn Valley Road just outside Dresden. The witness stopped to check on the well-being of the car and subsequently transported the animal to a local veterinary clinic. The animal suffered serious injuries and the investigation has been taken over by the OSPCA.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle involved in the incident and/or the parties responsible. The vehicle is described as a late model single cab Chevrolet Duramax diesel 4×4 pickup truck. The truck was further described as being lifted with LED headlights and aftermarket tail lights. The exhaust was very loud and the windows are tinted. The vehicle was last seen traveling towards Dresden.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16039603

Yesterday, the man and his girlfriend engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into the man destroying items owned by his girlfriend. Police were contacted and attended the residence in Chatham. When interviewed the woman disclosed several incidents where the man had destroyed additional property items owned by her.

The 30-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16039623

On Thursday, October 13th 2016, the man was released from custody with a number of conditions including to remain in his residence at all times unless with his surety. On Sunday, November 11th 2016, police investigation revealed that the man was not obeying several of his conditions and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Last night, police located the man on Thames Street in Chatham and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant. The 29-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
