Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 21Feb2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 82 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.

Robbery in Thamesville CK17005981

Last night just before midnight, the man entered the Mac’s Convenience Store located at 25 Victoria Street. He was wearing a black hoodie, worn backwards. The hood was covering his face and eye holes were cut out of the material, allowing him to see. The man was also wearing black gloves and carrying a large cloth bag similar to a pillow case.

The man confronted the lone employee with a weapon and demanded cash. After receiving money, the man left. The store employee was not physically harmed and immediately called the police. Excellent teamwork between frontline officers, C.K.P.S. K9 and store employees resulted in the man being located at his house and arrested.

The 29-year-old Thamesville man has been charged with robbery, disguise with intent and two counts of theft under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Tilbury Woman Charged with Assault Police CK17005991

In December, 2016 the woman was released from custody by the Windsor Police Service. One of the conditions of her release was not to buy, possess or consume alcohol. This morning around 3:15 a.m. police responded to a residence in Tilbury where the woman, who had been drinking alcohol, was now out-of-control.

When the officer arrived, the woman was standing at the top of a staircase, screaming and holding a wine bottle in her hand. As the officer tried to speak with her, she threw the bottle directly at him.

The 21-year-old Tilbury woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply and assault police. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Domestic-Related Assault CK17005966

Last night around 7:30 p.m. the man and his girlfriend were inside their house watching television when an argument ensued. Wanting the argument to stop, the girlfriend left the room and crawled into bed with her daughter. The man entered the bedroom and assaulted the woman. The woman then left the house with her daughter and called the police. Minor injuries were reported.

The 36-year-old Port Romney man was located outside of the residence by police. He was arrested and charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
