The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 146 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Man and Woman Charged with Breaching their Release Conditions CK16043151
On October 27, 2016 the pair were arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. They were released with conditions not to associate with each other and to obey a daily curfew of 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Last night, around 11:00 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed two people riding an e-bike in the area of Park Avenue near Lacroix Street in Chatham. The e-bike did not have lights on and one person was not wearing a helmet. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation, learned that the pair were breaching their release conditions. They were both arrested and upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of bolt cutters, metal sheers, a screw driver and set of pliers. The woman was also arrested on an outstanding warrant
The 41-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply and being in possession of break-in tools. The 19-year-old woman of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of failing to comply. Both have been held in custody pending bail hearing.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant in Windsor CK16043106
Earlier this year, the woman was charged with two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000.
On August 10, 2016, the woman failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Yesterday, the woman was arrested on the outstanding warrant in Windsor. The 35-year-old Windsor woman was released pending a future court date of January 17, 2017.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16043142
On December 11, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with his ex-girlfriend.
Last night, the man called the woman while police were present at her home. The man was located and arrested.
The 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK16043030
Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked garage on James Street. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole two air soft rifles and a Smith & Wesson BB gun.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $2000.
