The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 153 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Police Execute Search Warrant CK16035410
Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant at an apartment on Sandys Street in Chatham.
Fifty pounds of cannabis marihuana with a street value of approximately $340,000 was located and seized.
An 18-year-old Blenheim man, 26-year-old Chatham man and 47-year-old Chatham man were all arrested and charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking. They were released pending a future court date of November 10, 2016.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK16035466
Last night, around 8:15 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle rollover collision on River Line between Communication Road and Harwich Road.
Upon arrival, officers located an unoccupied truck with extensive damage that had struck a hydro pole. Concerned for the driver’s safety, K9 Arry attended the scene and officers used an infrared camera to search the area. The driver was subsequently located at his residence with minor injuries.
The 44-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident and careless driving.
Damage was estimated at $25,000.
Man Charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK16035489
This morning, just before 3:00 a.m. police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Highgate. Officers located the intoxicated man outside on the street and for his own safety, he was taken into custody.
The 26-year-old Highgate man has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He will be released when sober.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16035386
On September 23, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address on Park Street in Chatham.
On October 18, 2016, police learned that the man was no longer living at that address.
Yesterday morning, police located the man on Grand Avenue in Chatham and he was arrested. The 40-year-old man was charged with failing to comply. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Ridgetown CK16035392
Sometime between October 18, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. and October 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into an enclosed trailer parked at Mr. Industrial on Main Street.
Approximately $30,000 worth of various Stanley, DeWalt, Empire and Milwaukee tools were stolen.
