Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 20Mar2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 84 calls for service in the past 24 hours. There were 4 arrests. There were 11 False- 911 calls.

Break and Enter CK16006817

On March 20, 2016, Chatham-Kent Police officers were dispatched to attend the area of Margaret Avenue, Wallaceburg, in response to a break and enter. Through investigation it was discovered that sometime between 9:00pm on Saturday March 19th and 2:30am today, unknown suspects entered the Margaret Avenue residence and stole several hundred dollars in electronics.

Disturbance CK16006811

On March 20, 2016 at approximately 2:00am, Chatham-Kent Police officers were dispatched to attend the area of Park Street, Dresden in response to a call of disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a female party who had a strong odour of alcohol on her breath and who was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. It was deemed that the female was in no condition to care for herself or others. The 22 year old Thamesville resident was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and remained at Chatham-Kent Police headquarters till sober.

False 911 calls are continuing to pull officers away from incidents that require their attention. In the last 24 hours the Chatham-Kent Police Emergency Communication Centre received 11 false 911 calls.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to ensure that everyone knows what number to call should they require police assistance.
