The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 162 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested. Three of the four people were arrested on warrants.
Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision CK17002153
Yesterday morning just before 10:30 a.m. emergency personnel responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bloomfield Road between Park Avenue and Hitchcock Road. Through investigation, police determined the man was driving south on Bloomfield Road when his vehicle left the roadway and came to rest up against some bushes. The man, being the lone occupant in the vehicle, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.
The name of the driver will not be released as per the family’s request.

Man Charged with Drug Possession CK17002267
Last night an officer was travelling on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg when he observed a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk with no light on his bicycle. The cyclist was stopped by the officer and through investigation it was learned that the man was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and two counts of mischief under $5000.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine, weigh scale, cell phone and money.
A 28 year old, Walpole Island man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with his release conditions for being in possession of a weigh scale. He is being held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Theft CK17002262
Last night an officer attended Walmart for a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival, it was learned that the woman had left the store without making any attempt to pay for the stolen items concealed within her backpack. She was stopped outside on her bicycle and arrested. The amount of stolen merchandise recovered was valued at $465.
Alexis Leblanc, 23 years, of Gray Street in Chatham was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. She was released with a future court date of February 3, 2017.
Theft of Copper Wire CK17002166
Sometime between January 18, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. and January 19, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a residence under construction on Bloomfield Road. Copper wiring valued at approximately $5000 was cut and stolen.

Theft of Solar Panels CK17002156
Sometime within the last week unknown suspect(s) entered a construction site on Patteson Avenue in Chatham and 19 solar panels were stolen. Total value of the theft estimated at $5700.
