Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK16010399
Yesterday morning, the man began arguing with a 56-year-old woman known to him at a residence in Chatham. The man threw hot water from a kettle at the woman, threatened her with a baseball bat and assaulted her. The woman left the residence in an attempt to diffuse the situation. Later in the afternoon, the man assaulted the woman again and her 27-year-old son. The son was able to break free and call police for help.
Shortly before 5:00 p.m. the 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and three counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Update: Theft from Sears CK16009020
On April 8, 2016 around 2:00 p.m. the woman attended Sears at the Downtown Chatham Center on King Street and stole various items of clothing valued at approximately $316.
Yesterday, police requested the public’s assistance in identifying the woman. Within hours, the woman turned herself in to police headquarters.
Danitza Bashualdo, 43 years, of Smithfield Circle in Chatham was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date of May 19, 2016.
Youth Charged with being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK16010431
Last night around 10:30 p.m. police responded to a disturbance on Selkirk Street in Wallaceburg.
A 16-year-old Wallaceburg youth was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for herself. For her own safety, she was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
She was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and released when sober.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK16010338
Sometime between April 18 at 7:30 p.m. and April 19 at 6:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a property under construction on Dufferin Avenue causing about $500 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $4000 worth of copper wire.

Sometime within the past week, unknown suspect(s) entered a residence on Ebenezer Street and stole a 40” RCA television.

Sometime this week, between Monday at 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Inshes Avenue and stole a Phillips 42” flat screen TV.
