The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 85 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Twelve people were arrested.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16042909
Last night, just before midnight, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man threw a coffee table at his girlfriend while they argued. He also assaulted the woman’s teenage son and the woman again as she tried to protect her son.
The 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK16042921
Last night around 11:00 p.m. the woman attended her ex-boyfriend’s residence in Chatham. As the woman attempted to leave, the man grabbed her and pulled her back into the home. Police were called when the cab driver arrived to pick up the woman and the man would not let her leave.
The 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Criminal Harassment CK16042742
On December 17, 2016 the man contacted police and provided evidence of almost 300 emails sent to him by his ex-girlfriend over the past month. The man asked the woman to stop contacting him, but she continued.
Yesterday, the 37-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with criminal harassment. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK16042887
Last night around 6:00 p.m. police responded to the area of Thames Street in Chatham in regards to a suspicious man causing a disturbance.
Officers located the man who was unable to care for himself. For his own safety, he was arrested and transported to police headquarters. The 28-year-old Chatham man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He will be released when sober.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK16042878
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Park Avenue East in Chatham.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.
An 18-year-old man was charged with careless driving.
