The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 116 calls for service in the last 24 hours. One person was arrested.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16039021
The man was released from custody with conditions to attend CKPS HQ every Monday and Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to sign in commencing September 29, 2016.
On Monday, October 3, 2016 and Monday, October 31, 2016 the man failed to attend police headquarters to sign in as per his release conditions. A warrant was issued for his arrest for two counts of failing to comply.
Last night, police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant. The 42-year-old man of no fixed address has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Industrial Accident CK16038950
Yesterday morning, just before 8:00 a.m. emergency crews responded to an industrial accident on Sandys Street in Chatham.
A 35-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries while operating a heavy piece of road machinery. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.
The Ministry of Labour was contacted and has taken over the investigation.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) CK16039019
On average, five people die on Canada’s roads each day.
Yesterday, the ‘National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims’ was held across Canada to remember and honour these victims and their families.
Last night, the Chatham-Kent Police conducted a RIDE spot check on Keil Drive North in Chatham in memory of road crash victims here in our community.
450 vehicles were stopped with no infractions observed.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16039000
Sometime yesterday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on English Line.
Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a Mahogany jewelry box containing numerous valuable items, 55” Samsung Smart TV, black Lenovo laptop and canvas box containing personal identification and documents. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $23,000.
