The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 126 calls for service in the last 24 hours.

CK16034902, Warrants. On Saturday evening at approximately 8:17 pm the Chatham-Kent Police attended the area of Westcourt Boulevard in Wallaceburg for a complaint of a disturbance. A 22 year old Wallaceburg woman with a laceration and swelling to her face was located. She was uncooperative with police and refused medical attention. A subsequent records check was conducted and the female party was found to have an outstanding warrant to arrest. She was arrested, transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention for her facial injuries and released on a promise to appear with a later court date.

CK16034885, Threats/ Criminal Harassment On Saturday evening at approximately 5:32 pm the Chatham-Kent Police attended a St. Clair Street, Chatham restaurant for a complaint of Criminal Harassment. A female employee was approached by an unknown male party who made comments that were threatening in nature. Police investigation led to the identity of the male party who was located, arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters. A 67 year old Chatham man will appear in bail court charged with 2 counts of Criminal Harassment and 2 counts of uttering threats.

Pedestrian Safety

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that pedestrian safety is for all ages. It is the responsibility of both driver and pedestrian to ensure each other’s safety.

As a pedestrian: cross at marked crosswalks or traffic lights, make sure drivers see you before you cross and only cross when all traffic has come to a complete stop.

As a motorist: be patient, especially for those who may require more time to cross the road, always look for pedestrians especially when turning, stay alert and slow down on residential streets and in school zones.
