The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 129 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.
Driver Charged after Fleeing the Scene of a Collision CK16014305
On May 21, 2016 police responded to a collision at the intersection of St. Clair Street and McNaughton Avenue in Chatham. The driver of a pick-up truck turned in front of a motorcycle causing him to lose control and hit two other vehicles. The driver stopped momentarily but then fled the scene prior to police arrival. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for medical attention.
Through investigation, police identified the truck and driver responsible. Yesterday, police observed the man driving and a traffic stop was initiated. The 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and further charged with fail to remain, careless driving, driving with an expired validation and two counts of driving with no insurance. He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on September 21, 2016.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16026346
On June 10, 2016 the man was released from custody for the offence of theft under $5000. On August 3, 2016 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Last night, an officer on general patrol observed the man rummaging through the donations at the St. Vincent De Paul store on King Street East in Chatham. The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he has been held pending a bail hearing.
Youth Turns Himself in on Outstanding Warrant CK16026324
Yesterday afternoon, the 16-year-old male youth attended police headquarters and turned himself in on an outstanding warrant for two counts of failing to comply.
The Dover Township youth was arrested and later released pending a future court date of August 22, 2016.

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to warn residents that fraudsters appear to be using various telephone numbers to try and solicit money from the elderly in the Blenheim area. So far, no one has lost money but we’d like to keep it that way.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK16026313
Just before 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a four vehicle collision on Richmond Street between Bothwell Street and Irwin Street.
Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $30,000.
A 21-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with following too closely.
Break and Enter in Camden Township CK16026290
Sometime over the past weekend, unknown suspect(s) cut the fence at the Kent Wind Project substation on Huff Side Road near Smoke Line. Copper clad ground wiring was stolen. Damage and theft combined has been estimated at $4000.
