Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 15June2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 144 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16017704

On May 12, 2016 the man was released from custody pending a future court date for the offences of theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to attend court.

On May 18, 2016 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Kevin Clark, 37 years, of Second Street in Chatham was released pending a future court date of July 5, 2016.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16017746

On June 8, 2016 police received information that the man had just stolen meat from Sobeys in Chatham and was fleeing the area on a bicycle. An officer on general patrol located the man on William Street near St. Patrick Street. As the officer placed the man under arrest and attempted to apprehend him, he pulled back in an aggressive manner and fled on foot. The man left behind his bike and bag of stolen meat. The officer knew the man and a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offences of possession of stolen property obtained by a crime under $5000, resist arrest, escape custody and failing to comply.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Clinton Baylis, 34 years, of St. George Street in Chatham was released pending a future court date of June 28, 2016.

Youth Charged with Failing to Comply CK16017771

On May 28, 2016 the youth was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

On June 12, 2016 the youth failed to comply with his curfew and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Last night, police located the youth and he was arrested. The 16-year-old Dover Township youth has been charged with failing to comply. He was released pending a future court date of June 27, 2016.

Man Charged with Breach of Probation CK16017732

On June 6, 2016 the man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not to contact or communicate with a specific man or to attend his address.

Yesterday afternoon, the man attended the victim’s residence on Talbot Trail and spoke with him. Upon leaving he further called the victim’s cell phone and left voice mail messages.

Police were contacted and the man was arrested. The 45-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged with three counts of breach of probation and two counts of driving while under suspension. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Vehicle from the Dresden area CK16017690

Sometime yesterday morning between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole an unlocked blue 2007 Dodge Caravan from a residence on St. Clair Road. The van was last seen with Ontario license plates AYBK 483. Value of the theft is estimated at $7000.

Break and Enter in Blenheim CK16017768

Sometime last night between 5:40 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Ford Crescent and stole an undisclosed quantity of cash.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16017721

Sometime yesterday between 6:20 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into an apartment on Merritt Avenue. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole various electronics valued at approximately $2000.
