The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 134 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested. There were 34 hang-up 911 calls.
Man Charged with Shoplifting – CK16021800
Yesterday Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Sportchek on Grand Ave West in Chatham. At approximately 11:30 AM a male party entered the store and obtained a Nike golf club valued at $200. He then left the store, making no attempt to pay for the item, and fled the area on his e-bike.
Through video surveillance obtained from the store the male party was able to be identified. He was located last night and arrested for the charges of theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. He was released with a future court date of August 5th, 2016.
Man Charged with Breach of Probation – CK16021809
On June 30th, 2016, a warrant was issued for the man as he failed to comply with conditions of his Probation Order.
Yesterday afternoon an officer located the man walking downtown in Chatham and placed him under arrest. The man was later released from custody with a future court date.
Damage to Business – CK16021892
Shortly before 2:00 AM this morning Police responded to an alarm call at Crabby Joe’s on Grand Ave West in Chatham. On arrival it was found that approximately $200 in damage had been done to one of the doors.

Motor Vehicle Collision – CK16021861
Shortly after 8:00 PM last night Police responded to a two vehicle collision on Richmond Street near Inshes Ave in Chatham.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $11000.
A 24 year old Chatham man was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Left Turn – fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.
