Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK16001128

On January 4, 2016 around 4:50 p.m. the man entered the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham and concealed two bottles of Captain Morgan’s white rum inside his coat. The man left the store making no attempt to pay for the alcohol valued at $28. Through investigation, police identified the man and a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offences of theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000.

Last night, shortly after 9:00 p.m. officers located the man and he was taken into custody. Jamieson Brideau, 42 years, of Orchard Heights in Chatham was released with conditions pending a future court date of February 5, 2016.

Man Charged with Breach of Probation CK16001073

On December 23, 2015, a warrant was issued as the man failed to comply with conditions of his Probation Order.

Yesterday morning, police located the man in the area of Merritt Avenue and Richmond Street. The 28-year-old Chatham man was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant and transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16001090

On November 20, 2015 the man was charged with obstruct police and released pending a future court.

On December 22, 2015 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was apprehended on the outstanding warrant. The 26-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply with his Probation Order CK16001137

On November 2, 2015 a warrant was issued as the man failed to comply with conditions of his Probation Order.

Last night around 11:30 p.m. police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant. John Cornelius, 49 years, of Park Avenue East in Chatham was released pending a future court date of January 29, 2016.

Stolen Vehicle in Chatham CK16001062

Sometime yesterday between 1:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a red 2006 Pontiac Pursuit from a lot on King Street East. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates BTPN 675.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16001093

Sometime yesterday between 7:40 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Inshes Avenue causing about $125 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole jewelry and silver coins. Total value of the theft was estimated at $850. Upon canvassing the area, police believe the suspect may have been carrying a shovel and soliciting homes to see if anyone was home.

Citizen’s Police Academy

The Chatham-Kent Police Service are now accepting applications for this year’s Citizen’s Police Academy. The deadline to apply is February 19, 2016. Interested members of the public are asked to complete an application form accompanied with a copy of photo identification.
