The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 109 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Men Charged with Theft and Mischief CK16026141
Yesterday morning around 6:00 a.m. an observant citizen saw two men by the Bell Canada poles in the area of St. Patrick Street and Foster Street in Chatham. The men were using a ladder to remove wiring from the pole. Approximately $250 of Bell cable and steel support cable was stolen.
The men fled on bikes, however police located the first man a short distance away. The 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Shortly after noon, the second man was located and arrested. The 32-year-old Raleigh Township man has been charged with theft under $5000 and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK16026219
Last night, while police were at Tim Horton’s on Third Street in Chatham for an unrelated matter, an officer observed a physical altercation between two men outside.
A 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released pending a future court date of August 31, 2016.
The victim, a 56-year-old Chatham man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Youth Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16026171
Yesterday afternoon, police located a male youth wanted on an outstanding warrant by a neighbouring police agency.
The 16-year-old Dover Centre youth was arrested in Dresden and turned over to the London Police Service.
Motor Vehicle Collision in Tilbury East Township CK16026152
Yesterday morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Dashwheel Road near Roels Line.
Total damage was estimated at $20,000.
An 18-year-old Dover Centre man was charged with careless driving.
Three Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK16026182
Just before 2:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a three vehicle collision on St. Clair Street near Oxley Drive.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.
A 20-year-old Chatham man was charged with following too closely.
Motor Vehicle Collision in Tilbury East Township CK16026225
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Queens Line between Davidson Road and Bonneau Line.
The driver, a 43-year-old Tilbury woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for medical attention. Total damage was estimated at $4500.
She was charged with failing to drive in a marked lane.
