The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 134 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Woman Charged with Fraud CK17003530
In December 2016, the woman attended Money Mart in Wallaceburg and handed over a trucking company payroll cheque to the employee. The woman’s name was written on it as the recipient and in exchange for the cheque, she received money.
At the beginning of January 2017, the cheque returned to the Money Mart as it was reported as stolen by the trucking company. Police were contacted and through investigation, a warrant was issued for the woman who handed the cheque to the employee at Money Mart.
Last night, the 27-year-old Walpole Island woman was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime Under $5000, Utter Forged Document and Fraud Under $5000. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Stolen Vehicles from Bothwell CK17005084
Sometime between Sunday, February 12, at 9:30 p.m. and Monday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m. a garage located at 22723 Little John Road was entered. Unknown suspect(s) cut a master craft lock off the garage door. Police were contacted. A CANA, black and white, four-wheel drive A.T.V. and a Dodge pick-up truck, red in colour was stolen. Estimated value of both stolen vehicles is $30,000.

Citizens Police Academy
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is once again offering the Citizens Police Academy program beginning March 1, 2017.
The Citizen’s Police Academy is a program offered by the Chatham-Kent Police Service to enhance the partnership between the citizens of our community and their Police service through an interactive educational opportunity.
The academy consists of 12 classes, beginning on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017. Classes will be held every Wednesday night from 6:30 pm until 10:00 pm. Applicants must be at least 19 years of age. Seniors are encouraged to attend.
Interested members of the public are asked to complete a Citizen’s Police Academy application form accompanied with a copy of photo identification. Forms can be obtained online at http://ckpolice.com/citizens-police-academy/ or at the front counter of each Service Centre in the Municipality, including the front desk at Police Headquarters. Applications will no longer be accepted after February 17th, 2017. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
