Three Men Charged with Break and Enter CK16000958

Last night around 7:20 p.m. the men attended a residence on Briardene Street in Chatham. Two of the men forced their way into an attached garage while the third man stayed in the vehicle. The men stole two bicycles and a leaf blower from the garage. Total value of the theft was about $4000. The homeowner heard noises and upon checking the garage realized that she had been the victim of a break and enter. Police were contacted and provided a physical description of the stolen property.

Around 7:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle driving with no headlights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Raleigh Street and through investigation observed the men to be in possession of the two bicycles and leaf blower stolen from Briardene Street. All three men were arrested and transported to police headquarters. The recovered stolen property was returned to the homeowner.

A 25-year-old man, 30-year-old man, 36-year-old man, all from Chatham, were charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. All three men have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16000976

In October 2014, the woman was released from custody pending a future court date. On December 4, 2014, the woman failed to attend and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Last night, Windsor Police located the woman and she was arrested on the outstanding warrant. The 21-year-old Chatham woman was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

CK16000913 – Shortly after 1:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Charing Cross Road between Eighth Line and Ninth Line. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $11,500. An 86-year-old man was charged with careless driving.

CK16000927 – Around 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Grand Avenue East near Prince Albert Road in Chatham. Luckily, the driver was not injured. Total damage was estimated at $4000. The 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.

CK16000932 – At 3:40 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Queens Line between Merlin Road and Drake Road. Luckily, the driver was not injured. Total damage was estimated at $30,000. The 20-year-old woman was charged with careless driving.

CK16000946 – Shortly after 5:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Queens Line between McDougall Line and Merlin Road. Luckily, the driver was not injured. Total damage was estimated at $8000. The 27-year-old man was charged with careless driving.

The Chatham-Kent police would like to remind all motorists that road and weather conditions are not an excuse. Drivers must maintain control of their vehicle at all times. When road conditions are deteriorating, drivers are urged to slow down.
