Man Arrested by Off-Duty Officer

On February 12th, 2017 a 25 year old Chatham man was committing a crime spree in a strip plaza on St. Clair St. in Chatham. The man was targeting multiple stores at the location for thefts and was eventually confronted by a store staff member. The suspect fled with stolen merchandise on a stolen bike and the staff member was able to flag down an off-duty Chatham-Kent Police Officer. The suspect was apprehended after a short distance and held until other Police units could attend.
The suspect was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Motor Vehicle Collision in Bothwell

On February 12th, 2017 the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a single vehicle collision in Bothwell. A 24 year old Bothwell man was found to be in control of the vehicle when it left the roadway and struck a tree. There were no injuries during the collision and damage was estimated at $1000.00. The 24 year old Bothwell man was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
