The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 110 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Man Charged with Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest CK16042237

Last night, shortly after 10:00 p.m. a homeowner in Wallaceburg observed the man dressed in camouflage in her fenced in back yard. Police were contacted and the man was found running from the area. Following a short foot chase, the man was apprehended, however he failed to comply with the officers and resisted arrest by grabbing at the officer’s conducted energy weapon. The man eventually stopped fighting and was taken into custody.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

The 39-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with trespassing by night and assault with intent to resist arrest. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

CKPS Food Drive

From now until Christmas, the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be accepting food donations in an effort to support Outreach for Hunger and the Salvation Army this holiday season.

Police Looking for the Public’s Assistance CK16041914

Sometime December 10, 2016 between 3:45 a.m. and 4:55 a.m. police believe this man entered several vehicles and stole a Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Journey from the Lisa Street and Matier Avenue area in Wheatley.
