The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 149 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Man and Woman Charged with Arson CK17010206
In March 2017, at approximately 12:00 a.m. the man and woman set two separate fires in the Campbell Toyota dealership parking lot and then left. That dealership is located at 296 Richmond Street in Chatham. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, two pick-up trucks were fully engulfed. In total, four vehicles were damaged as a result of the fire and the damage value was estimated at $116,695.
Through investigation, officers learned how the fires were started, as well as who was responsible.
Last night, police attended the man’s residence. The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with arson and was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. His co-accused, the 26-year-old Chatham woman was also arrested and charged with arson. They are both being held in custody for a bail hearing.
Update: Robbery in Dresden CK17012406
As previously reported: On Monday, April 10, 2017 just after 3:30 p.m. a man entered Gabby’s Express Gas Station located at 308 St. George Street in Dresden and demanded money while pointing a weapon at the gas bar employee. He left without getting any money after a brief encounter with the employee. No injuries were reported to the police.
Through investigation, police learned who the man responsible was. Early this morning at approximately 5:00 a.m. the 25-year-old Thamesville man was arrested and charged with robbery. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
