Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 13April2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 117 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.

Uniforms Unite to Save Lives

The Chatham-Kent Police, Fire, EMS, OPP as well as the residents of Chatham-Kent are being called to action this month. The call is in support of ‘Uniforms Unite to Save Lives’ — a month-long blood donor campaign that promotes the need for blood. Roll up your sleeves and help us save lives.

Today, there will be a blood donor clinic at the Spirit and Life Centre (formerly known as St. Joe’s Auditorium) on Wellington Street in Chatham from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

New donors and walk-ins welcome. United We Stand…and Give !!

Man Charged with Assault CK16009078

On April 8, 2016 around 9:20 p.m. the man attended a property in Dresden and assaulted a 31-year-old man with whom he was not to have contact with. The man fled the area prior to police arrival and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested. The 47-year-old Dresden man has been charged with assault and failing to comply. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.

Teen Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK16009510

Last night, the 17-year-old Merlin youth turned herself in to police headquarters for outstanding warrants.

She was arrested for the offences of failing to attend court and two counts of breach of probation. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Impaired Driving CK16009530

Last night around 9:20 p.m. police received information about an erratic driver in the Wallaceburg area. An officer on general patrol located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue near First Street. Through investigation, the officer believed the woman was driving her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested. The woman was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

Jennifer Depooter, 46 years, of St. Clair Parkway has been charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample. She was released pending a future court date of May 3, 2016.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16009536

Sometime yesterday between 3:30 p.m. and midnight, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Duke Street. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole two TVs, a laptop and android box.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16009478

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Wabash Line between Kent Bridge Road and Base Line. The driver lost control of his vehicle and came to rest in the ditch.

The 38-year-old Chatham man was transported to hospital for medical attention. Total damage was estimated at $9000. He was charged with careless driving.
