Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 12May2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 122 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested. Two of the six people were arrested on outstanding warrants and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Uttering Threats CK16013096

On May 10, 2016 the man called a family member over the phone and an argument began. During the conversation, the man threatened her. Yesterday, the man continued to threaten the woman via messages sent through Facebook.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested. The 33-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with two counts of uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16013041

On April 8, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence except for medical emergencies, court purposes or in the presence of his surety.

On May 10, 2016 police were reviewing video surveillance footage regarding an incident at a local business when the man was observed on video without his surety.

Yesterday afternoon, the man was arrested and charged with failing to comply. The 34-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16013094

Last night around 7:00 p.m. the man attended the residence of his ex-partner in Blenheim. At this time, the man began discussing an upcoming criminal trial in which the homeowner was the victim. An argument began which resulted in the man assaulting the homeowner. Police were contacted shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Through investigation, police further learned that the man was also on conditions to remain in his residence, except for medical emergencies, court or work and not to communicate or be within 100 metres of his ex-partner.

At 10:45 p.m. the 45-year-old Thamesville man was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Break and Enter CK16013100

Last night around 11:30 p.m. the woman attended her ex-boyfriends residence in Chatham. Upon doing so, she observed the man inside the home with another female. The woman pushed open the front door while it was still latched causing the door to break and the glass window to shatter. Once inside the home, an argument began and the woman assaulted the female. The woman fled the area prior to police arrival.

Shortly after midnight. police located the woman and she was arrested. The 36-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with break and enter and commit assault. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16013036

Around 2:50 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and cyclist on Glenwood Drive near McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.

The 16-year-old cyclist sustained minor injuries. Total damage was estimated at $200.

The driver, a 16-year-old Chatham youth was charged with failing to yield the right of way.
