Man Charged with Child Pornography Offences CK16002286

Last month, the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit became involved in an investigation surrounding the accessing and possession of child pornography.

Yesterday, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Ridgetown. Electronic devices were seized for analysis.

A 33-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested and charged with accessing child pornography, possessing child pornography and making child pornography available. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.

Pair Charged with Theft CK16003580

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. last night, the man and woman attended Affinity Distinctive Jewellery on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The man entered the store and inquired about engagement rings. The salesperson showed the man two trays of rings containing 10 diamond rings each. As soon as the salesperson turned her head for a minute, the man grabbed both trays of rings and fled the store. The man jumped into the front passenger seat of a Pontiac Grand Am as the woman sped away. The trays had a combined value of approximately $25,000.

Police were immediately contacted and through investigation learned the vehicle had been stolen from Windsor earlier in the afternoon. Around 6:00 p.m. police observed the vehicle, now being driven by the man, travelling on Tecumseh Line, south of Tilbury. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however the man accelerated and refused to stop. The man drove through a field until he reached a driveway and made it back on to the roadway, striking a street sign along the way. Despite the damage to the front end of the vehicle, the man continued to drive in a dangerous manner and almost struck a police cruiser. The officer had to take evasive action to prevent a collision. For public safety reasons, police terminated the pursuit. A short time later, the vehicle was stopped in Belle River and the pair were arrested. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The 30-year-old Windsor man has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, theft over $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and drug possession.

The 34-year-old Windsor woman has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, theft over $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000.

Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16003599

On February 10, 2016 the man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault following a domestic dispute in Chatham. He was released from custody with several conditions pending a future court date. One of those conditions stated that he was to abstain from communicating directly or indirectly with a specific Chatham woman.

Around 5:10 p.m. last night, the man called the woman from a pay phone. Police located the man and he was arrested and charged with failing to comply. The 44-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police Execute Search Warrant CK16003446

Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence in Wallaceburg.

A small amount of cannabis marihuana was seized along with hydromorphone and cocaine.

Alicia Dubuque, 36 years, of Edwy Street in Wallaceburg was arrested and charged with drug possession. She was released pending a future court date of March 3, 2016.
