The Chatham-Kent Police, Fire, EMS, OPP as well as the residents of Chatham-Kent are being called to action this month. The call is in support of ‘Uniforms Unite to Save Lives’ — a month-long blood donor campaign that promotes the need for blood. Roll up your sleeves and help us save lives.
Today, there will be a blood donor clinic at St. Mary’s Hall, 94 George Street in Blenheim from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Man Charged with Mischief CK16009274
On April 10, 2016 the man and his girlfriend began arguing which resulted in the man damaging items around their home. The man broke the woman’s cell phone and stabbed their bedroom door with a large kitchen knife. The woman was not injured and left the residence to call for help. Attempts were made to locate the man, however when unable, a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offence of mischief under $5000.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested. The 38-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16009363
Yesterday, the man and his common-law began arguing at their residence in Wallaceburg. The incident escalated into a physical altercation as the man assaulted and threatened the woman. She was able to flee the residence and call for help. Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first time the woman had been the victim of domestic violence.
The 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with uttering threats and three counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK16009406
Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Chatham. The man attended his girlfriend’s home and assaulted her as an argument began. The man also damaged the woman’s computer.
The 42-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
DNA Helps Solve Crime in Wallaceburg CK16009395
On December 13, 2015 police responded to a residence on Murray Street in Wallaceburg in regards to an attempt theft of motor vehicle. At this time, the owner reported that unknown suspect(s) had damaged his truck. The damage was consistent with efforts made to start the vehicle and steal it. The damage was estimated at $2000. The truck was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis.
Police subsequently received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local man.
Last night, shortly after 7:00 p.m. police located the man in Chatham and he was arrested. Peter Hopkins, 36 years, of River Line in Moraviantown has been charged with attempt theft of motor vehicle and mischief over $5000. He was released pending a future court date of April 26, 2016.
Stolen Vehicle from Blenheim CK16009327
Sometime yesterday between 2:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a green two-door 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo from a parking lot on Chatham Street North. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates BXSE 721.
