Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 11Sept2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 111 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested in that time.

Collision Leads to Impaired Driving Charges CK16030181

Yesterday morning around 6:00 a.m. an off duty officer came upon a single motor vehicle collision on Communication Road north of Blenheim.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 19-year-old Chatham woman was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of September 23, 2016.

DNA Helps Solve Crime in Chatham CK16004734

In February of 2016 police responded to a residence on Mulberry Court in Chatham in regards to a break and enter which had occurred. At this time, the owner reported that unknown suspect(s) had broken into his residence and stolen a long list of property. The residence was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis.

Police subsequently received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local man.

Yesterday morning, shortly after 9:00 a.m. police located the man in Chatham and he was arrested. A 29-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter. He was released with a future court date of September 30th 2016.

Break and Enter in Dresden CK16030305

Sometime today before 11:00 a.m., unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a property on Camden Street Lorne Avenue causing about $100 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a $500 bicycle and fled the area.

Youth Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16029655

On September 6th 2016, the female youth reported various historical domestic related criminal offences that were committed by her now ex-boyfriend. Police were unable to locate the accused and a warrant was sought for his arrest.

Today, an officer located the accused on Taylor Avenue in Chatham at which time he was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant. The 16-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he has been held pending a bail hearing.
