Man Charged with Assault Peace Officer CK16000774
Last night around 7:30 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call at a residence on Duke Street in Wallaceburg. Through investigation, officers found the man in a bedroom and he was placed under arrest on outstanding warrants. The man grabbed a small torch device and BBQ lighter from a bedside table and failed to comply with the officers. Pepper spray had to be used to gain compliance. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the struggle.
While in police custody, officers learned that the man had ingested a quantity of drugs prior to his arrest. The man was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.
The 27-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with three counts of assault peace officer, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and eight counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
Man Turns Himself in on Outstanding Warrant CK16000800
On October 23, 2015 the man was released from custody pending a future court for the offences of theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to attend court. On December 11, 2015 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
This morning around 12:15 a.m. the man attended police headquarters and turned himself in. The 36-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Driving While Under Suspension CK16000771
Last night just before 7:00 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the woman, believed to be suspended, driving a Chrysler Intrepid on Murray Street in Wallaceburg. The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned that she was in fact suspended due to unpaid fines.
The 32-year-old Oshawa woman was charged with driving while under suspension. She will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on February 24, 2016.
Stolen Vehicle in Bothwell CK16000725
Sometime between January 9th at 10:00 p.m. and January 10th at 8:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a locked blue 2002 GMC Envoy from a residence on Chestnut Street. The vehicle had a red engine hood and was last seen with Ontario license plates BSCV 184.

Vehicle Fire
Sometime last night after 6:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a silver 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee from the parking lot of Memorial Arena. At 8:45 p.m. emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire on Norton Line between Kenesserie Road and Henderson Line. Through investigation, police learned it was the stolen vehicle from Chatham.
