Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 10Mar2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 93 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 6 person was arrested.

Update: Suspicious Fire CK16005761

The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a 24-year-old Chatham man in regards to a suspicious fire in Cedar Springs Yesterday.

As previous released, on March 9th, 2016 around 02:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a residential fire in Cedar Springs. The building was evacuated as the fire department extinguished the blaze. Through investigation, police learned that seven of the eight units were currently occupied. Luckily, no one was injured. Damage is estimated to be at $80,000.00. The office of the Ontario Fire Marshall attended the scene.

Police have arrested a 24-year old Chatham man who has been charged with Arson Endangering life, Arson Damage to property and Break and Enter. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16005774

At approximately 03:00 a.m. on March 9th, 2016 unknown suspect(s) smashed the front door of a business on Queen Street. Once inside suspects removed cash, I pad and various hunting equipment.

Break and Enter in Ridgetown CK16005781

Sometime between 11:00p.m.on the 8th of March, 2016 and 07:00a.m. on the 9th of March, 2016 unknown suspect(s) entered a residence on David Street in Ridgetown, Once inside suspects removed a quantity of alcohol, a shop vacuum and various other small items.

Mischief in Chatham CK16005798

Sometime between 00:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m. on 9th of March 2016 unknown suspect(s) smashed a window out of a business on St. Clair Street. Damage is estimated at $500.00, entry was not gained into the business.
