Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 10Feb2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 134 calls for service in the last 24 hours. One person was arrested.

Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK17004691

Last night around 9:40 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man driving northbound on Lacroix Street in Chatham. The man crossed the center line several times before turning into a parking lot. The officer followed the vehicle and approached the driver in the parking lot. Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

Darrell Fields, 40 years, of Blythewood Crescent in Chatham was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of February 22, 2017.

Man Charged with Driving while Under Suspension CK17004592

Yesterday morning, just before 8:00 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man driving on McNaughton Avenue near Galbraith Street in Chatham. A police check revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had an expired license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation learned that the man was driving his wife’s vehicle even though his license was suspended due to unpaid fines.

The 43-year-old Dresden man was charged with driving while under suspension. He will be required to attend court on March 22, 2017.

Stolen Vehicle CK17004586

Sometime yesterday morning between 2:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole an unlocked white 2003 Ford F250 with extended cab from a business on Prince Albert Road. The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 789 7FB.

Citizen’s Police Academy

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is once again offering the Citizen’s Police Academy beginning March 1, 2017. This program is offered to enhance the partnership between the citizens of our community and our Police Service through an interactive educational opportunity.

The academy consists of 12 classes, held every Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
