Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 09Feb2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 103 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.

Robbery in Thamesville and Bothwell CK17004496

Yesterday morning, shortly after 10:30 a.m. a man entered the Bothwell Pharmacy with his face concealed. The man demanded narcotics from the employees while threatening that he had a firearm. The man was refused service and fled in a car with two other men waiting outside for him.

Around 11:00 a.m. the same three men attended the Thamesville Pharmacy. The same man entered wearing the same clothing making the same demands and threat. A quantity of narcotics were stolen and the man fled again in the same vehicle waiting outside.

Police were notified of both incidents and just before noon officers located the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Baseline Road. A high risk traffic stop was initiated on Dawn Mills Road and two of the three men were arrested. The third man had already exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

A 20-year-old Harwich Township man and 24-year-old Blenheim man have been charged with two counts of robbery. They remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police have identified the third man involved and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

High Risk Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges CK17003040

As part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, a high risk traffic stop was initiated Tuesday night on Queens Line near the Dillon Road.

As a direct result of this traffic stop, the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant which resulted in the seizure of cocaine, methamphetamine, marihuana and cash.

A 24-year-old Sarnia woman, 21-year-old Chatham man, 26-year-old Sarnia man have been arrested and charged with drug related offences. They remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

Total street value of the drugs seized has been estimated at $95,000.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK17004536

Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the man known to him walking on Park Avenue East in Chatham. The officer knew that the man was wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with his curfew condition.

Upon seeing the cruiser, the man fled on foot, however he was arrested a short distance away.

The 34-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK17004549

Last night around 7:00 p.m. police responded to a possible impaired driver travelling in the Blenheim area.

An officer on general patrol located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Marlborough Street near Little Street. Through investigation, the officer suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and a roadside breath test was administered. The man failed and was arrested. He was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests. His vehicle was towed from the roadway.

Everett Brown, 63 years, of New Scotland Line in Harwich Township was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of February 22, 2017.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK17004488

Sometime yesterday between 1:45 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Colborne Street. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a green and black men’s Peugeot Attitude mountain bike and PS3 gaming system.

Break and Enter in Tilbury CK17004568

Sometime between February 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. and February 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Queen Street North causing about $500 damage. Police continue to work with the homeowner to determine what was stolen.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK17004587

Early this morning, just before 6:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a garage on Parkwood Drive and stole a Mastercraft air compressor, two electric razor scooters and beer.
