The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 157 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested. Of the nine people arrested, four were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Pair Arrested Following Suspicious Persons Complaint CK16029691
Yesterday morning, a homeowner on Eugenie Street in Chatham reported that a man and woman were observed lurking around her garage door and vehicle shortly after 1:30 a.m.
Through investigation, police identified the pair and they were arrested just before 11:00 a.m.
The 46-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with trespassing at night and breach of probation. The 36-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged with trespassing at night and facilitating a breach of probation. Both were transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
Collision Leads to Impaired Driving Charges CK16029802
Last night around 9:00 p.m. emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bay Line east of Winterline Road in Dover Township. Luckily, neither the woman nor young child in the vehicle at the time of the collision were physically injured. A family member was called to the scene to take custody of the child.
Through investigation, police believed the woman was driving her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested. The woman was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
The 30-year-old Chatham woman was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released pending a future court date of September 23, 2016.
Woman Charged with Impaired Driving CK16029813
Around 11:20 p.m. last night, police received a complaint of an erratic driver on Riverview Drive travelling towards Chatham. An officer on general patrol located the van and a traffic stop was initiated on King Street West.
Through investigation, police believed the woman was driving her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested. The woman was transported to police headquarters for breath tests. A family member took custody of the two young children in the van.

Food Stolen from Garage Freezer CK16029733
Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked garage on Woods Street in Chatham and stole a quantity of food from the freezer.

Sometime between Tuesday night at 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked garage on Elmwood Street. Alcohol and money from the homeowner’s vehicle were stolen.
