The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 133 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Man Charged with Theft CK16016691
Yesterday morning around 11:30 a.m. the man attended Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The man removed a generator off the shelf and exited the store making no attempt to pay for the item. The man fled the area prior to police arrival, however officers were given his physical and vehicle descriptors.
Around noon, an officer on general patrol observed the vehicle in a parking lot on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg. The man was located in a nearby business and arrested.
Matthew Miller, 30 years, of Main Street in Wallaceburg was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of June 28, 2016.
Youth Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK16016694
Just before noon yesterday, a woman approached the youth at the Downtown Chatham Centre and began asking him about her daughter’s stolen bike. As the woman walked away, the youth took a fillet knife and threatened her. Police were notified of the incident and the youth was arrested.
The 16-year-old Chatham youth was charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and uttering threats. He was released pending a future court date of June 27, 2016.
Man Charged with Theft of Lumber CK16012595
On May 9, 2016 police responded to a theft complaint on Foster Street in Chatham. At this time, the property owner reported construction related items had been stolen. Through investigation, police identified the man responsible for the theft of lumber valued at approximately $100.
This morning, at 6:15 a.m. police located the man in Chatham and he was arrested. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of an illegal drug.
The 32-year-old Raleigh Township man has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and drug possession. He will be released pending a future court date of June 23, 2016.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16016683
On February 6, 2015 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
On May 31, 2016 shortly after 11:00 p.m. police attended the man’s residence and learned that he was not home as per his curfew condition. Attempts were made to locate the man, however when unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday morning, the man turned himself in to police. The 60-year-old Chatham man was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
Stolen Vehicle CK16016737
Sometime between May 25 and June 2 unknown suspect(s) entered a storage shed on Industrial Road and stole a black 2006 Dodge Charger. The vehicle was unplated and uninsured. Value of the theft is estimated at $6000.

Break and Enter in Dresden CK16016673
Sometime between June 6 at 5:00 p.m. and June 7 at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) kicked open a locked door to a storage shed at Clarks Fuel and Supply on Metcalfe Avenue. Items were rummaged through however it doesn’t appear as if anything was stolen.
