The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 114 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested.
Man Charged with Domestic-Related Offences CK17004395
Yesterday morning the man was released from custody in Windsor. While his girlfriend was driving them back to Chatham, a verbal argument about their relationship ensued.
Once back in Chatham around 12:00 p.m. the man went to the girlfriend’s residence and forced his way into her house through the door. When she tried to walk passed him to leave, he grabbed her from behind and would not let her go. This resulted in minor injuries. The man eventually let her go and went outside to retrieve some paperwork from her car. As soon as he exited her house, she locked her door and called police. When he returned to a now locked door, he began kicking it, causing approximately $500 in damage.
The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested a short distance away for unlawfully entering a dwelling, assault, forcible confinement and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested from Wanted List CK17004401
In 2015, the man was charged with failing to surrender his ownership and insurance for his vehicle, two counts of driving while under suspension, two counts of criminal harassment and two counts of uttering false messages.
On December 22, 2016 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday around 1:00 p.m. an observant citizen in Wallaceburg recognized the man from the Wanted List and called police.
The 37-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested on the outstanding warrant. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Being in Possession of Break and Enter Tools CK17004456
In December 2016, the man was charged with break and enter. He was released from custody with a condition to remain in his residence between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily.
Last night just after 11:00 p.m. an officer on general patrol in Chatham observed the man on Harvey Street riding his bicycle. The man’s bicycle did not have a light and the officer initiated a traffic stop. Through investigation it was learned that the man was not abiding by his curfew condition and he was arrested. The man was then searched incident to arrest and found to be in possession of a flashlight, crow bar, bolt cutters, hatchet and screwdriver.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK17004468
Early this morning around 2:30 a.m. police responded to a vehicle that had gone into a ditch on Eighth Line between Bloomfield Road and Charing Cross Road. No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at $15,000.
A 21-year-old Belle River woman was charged with being a novice driver and having a blood alcohol concentration above zero, driving with a hand-held communication device and careless driving. She was issued a 3-day license suspension and will be required to attend court.
