West Lorne Man Charged Following Disturbance in Chatham CK16008685

On April 5, 2106 shortly before 5:00 p.m. police responded to a disturbance on Harvey Street. A West Lorne man attended the residence and a physical altercation ensued outside between two men known to each other. As the West Lorne man, who was in possession of two knives ran towards the Chatham man in an aggressive manner, the Chatham man struck him in an attempt to protect himself from getting stabbed. The knives were wrestled away from the man as police were called.

The 45-year-old Chatham man sustained minor injuries.

The 45-year-old West Lorne man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. He was later transferred to a hospital in London for further medical treatment.

Yesterday, the West Lorne man was released from hospital and arrested. He has been charged with uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and breach of probation. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Theft CK16008920

Around 6:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The man concealed an MP3 player on his person and made no attempt to pay for the item as he exited the store.

Emerson Boswell, 46 years, of Queen Street in Dresden was apprehended and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of April 27, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16008936

Last night just before 8:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Adelaide Street near Wellington Street in Chatham.

The pedestrian, a 45-year-old woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 69-year-old Chatham woman was not injured. She was charged with making a turn not in safety.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16008882

Sometime yesterday afternoon between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a residence on Wellington Street East. Jewelry, cash and electronics were stolen.

Theft in Chatham CK16008940

Around 8:40 p.m. last night, unknown suspect(s) stole a blue and black Norco Storm mountain bike from a parking lot on Grand Avenue West. The adult bike is valued at approximately $1000.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16008916

Last night around 5:30 p.m. police located a man in Chatham wanted on an outstanding OPP warrant.

The 30-year-old man was apprehended and turned over to OPP for court purposes.
