Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 07Nov2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 94 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16037771

Yesterday, the man and his girlfriend engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation. The man assaulted the woman and fled their apartment in Chatham prior to police arrival.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested in Wallaceburg.

The 27-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Theft CK16037756

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to Pickard Construction on Park Avenue East in Chatham as a man was observed trespassing on the property and stealing wiring. The man threw old wiring over the fence and fled the area on a bicycle. Physical descriptors were given to officers and the man was located on Queen Street.

Through investigation, police recovered the wiring and it was returned to the business.

The 28-year-old Chatham man was charged with entering a premise when entry prohibited, an offence contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.

Stolen Vehicle in Bothwell CK16037719

Sometime between November 5, 2016 at 9:30 p.m. and November 6, 2016 at 8:20 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a blue 2005 GMC Jimmy bearing Ontario license plates BVLC 913 from a residence on Elm Street. Also stolen was an attached 2005 homemade black trailer bearing an Ontario license plate L9769C. The boxed in trailer had a 9500lb pound winch on the front along with a solar panel and battery. Total value of the theft was estimated at $8000.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16037759

Yesterday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Baldoon Road between Lark Street and Partridge Crescent in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $4500.

A 22-year-old Chatham woman was charged with failing to yield from a driveway.
