The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 119 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.

Emergency Preparedness Week – Time to be Prepared

Tomorrow, Chatham-Kent emergency service responders will mark Emergency Preparedness Week with a display at Home Depot, 8582 Pioneer Line in Chatham. The display will start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at 1:00 p.m. Participants will include the Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services, Chatham-Kent Police Service, Chatham-Kent EMS, Chatham-Kent OPP and the Canadian Red Cross. Emergency Preparedness Week is a national event coordinated by Public Safety Canada in collaboration with provincial and territorial governments and other partners.

Prescription Drug Drop Off Day

Drop off your old or unused medication tomorrow at various locations across Chatham-Kent between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. before they get into the wrong hands.

Medication may be dropped off at:

– Shopper’s Drug Mart on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg

– Chatham-Kent Courthouse on Grand Avenue West in Chatham

– Shopper’s Drug Mart on Mill Street in Tilbury

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16012179

On February 9, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific residence on James Street in Wallaceburg.

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016 police attended the address to conduct a residence check. At this time, the officer learned that the man had moved out in March.

Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested. Austin Jolly, 19 years, of Emily Street in Wallaceburg was charged with failing to comply. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing and released with a future court date of May 27, 2016.

Man Charged with Drug Possession CK16012270

On March 30, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was remain at least 50 meters from any place a specific Wallaceburg woman lived, worked or attended.

Yesterday around 12:30 p.m. the woman observed the man in her backyard. Police attended and the man was arrested. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of morphine in a syringe.

The 25-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with failing to comply and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Theft CK16012329

Last night around 8:30 a.m. the woman attended Sears on King Street in Chatham and concealed two bottles of perfume in her purse and two DVDs in her shirt. The woman left the store making no attempt to pay for the items valued at $104. The Loss Prevention Officer apprehended the woman and called police.

Through investigation, police recovered the stolen items and detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage on her breath even though she was on conditions not to consume alcohol.

The 35-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16012290

Yesterday afternoon around 3:20 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Countryview Line near Prince Albert Road. The driver lost control of his truck, left the roadway and rolled over.

Luckily, the driver or neither of his two passengers were injured. Total damage was estimated at $1500.

The 19-year-old Dover Township man was charged with careless driving.
