The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 93 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.
Chatham Woman Charged with Impaired Driving CK17004190
Yesterday morning, just before 11:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol in the area of Park Avenue and Lacroix Street in Chatham initiated a traffic stop. The officer believed the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested. She was transported to a police station for breath tests.
Jodi-Lynn Curran, 30 years, of Park Avenue West in Chatham was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released with a future court date of February 21, 2017.
R.I.D.E. – Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere
Last night officers conducted R.I.D.E. spot checks in Wallaceburg, Ridgetown, Tilbury and Chatham.
561 vehicles were stopped. One roadside test was administered, however, no one was arrested for impaired driving. Nine tickets were issued for various provincial offences.
Woman Charged with Driving While Under Suspension CK17004234
Last night around 7:30 p.m. as a result of the R.I.D.E. spot check in Wallaceburg, the woman was stopped and could not produce a valid driver’s license. Through investigation, it was learned that her license had been suspended due to unpaid fines.
The 42-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with driving while under suspension. She will be required to attend court on March 1, 2017.
Citizens Police Academy
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is once again offering the Citizens Police Academy program beginning March 1, 2017.
The Citizen’s Police Academy is a program offered by the Chatham-Kent Police Service to enhance the partnership between the citizens of our community and their Police service through an interactive educational opportunity.
The academy consists of 12 classes, beginning on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017. Classes will be held every Wednesday night from 6:30 pm until 10:00 pm. Applicants must be at least 19 years of age. Seniors are encouraged to attend.
Interested members of the public are asked to complete a Citizen’s Police Academy application form accompanied with a copy of photo identification. Forms can be obtained online at http://ckpolice.com/citizens-police-academy/ or at the front counter of each Service Centre in the Municipality, including the front desk at Police Headquarters. Applications will no longer be accepted after February 17th, 2017. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
