Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 06Dec2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 129 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.

Man Arrested for Shoplifting – CK16041381

Yesterday at approximately 2:50 PM, police responded to a business on St Clair Street in Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint. A male party had left the business with a number of items in his possession that he had made no attempt to pay for. Officers attended the area and located the male party a short distance away from the business and placed him under arrest.

A 30 year old Wallaceburg man has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. He was later released from custody with a future court date.

Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon – CK16041435

Last night at approximately 11:00 PM two men who were known to each other became engaged in verbal dispute at a residence on Charing Cross Road. During the argument, one of the men struck the other several times with a golf club. The accused was located a short time later and placed under arrest. The victim suffered only minor injuries.

A 54 year old Harwich Township man has been charged with assault with a weapon. He has been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.

Break and Enter in Chatham Township – CK16041404

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a break and enter near Kent Bridge.

Yesterday at approximately 2:00 PM unknown suspects entered a shed located at a residence on Longwoods Road near Kent Bridge. Once inside the suspects removed a four-wheeler and a dirt bike.

Theft of Auto Parts – CK16041368

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding the theft of auto parts from a business.

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a theft complaint from a business on Seventh Line just outside of Chatham. At that time it was reported that unknown suspects had removed two catalytic converters from vehicles parked at the business, resulting in approximately $2000 in damage to the vehicles.
