The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 125 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man Re-Arrested Within 24 Hours of Being Released CK17011379
On April 4, 2017 the man was arrested and charged with uttering threats toward a woman he had been in a relationship with. He was released that same date with conditions, along with a future court date. One of the conditions of his release was not to communicate in any way with that woman.
The very next day, the man sent that woman a friend request from his Facebook page.
On April 5, 2017 the 33-year-old Chatham was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Fraud CK17010560
On March 29, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m. an officer attended the Downtown Shopping Centre in Chatham. He spoke with an employee regarding a man who had just exited the store due to his card / transaction being declined. It was the employee’s belief that man was using a credit card that did not belong to him.
Through investigation, the actual owner of the credit card was located and spoken to. Police also learned that since this card had gone missing from the owner, it was used multiple times throughout the City of Chatham.
The man who was using this credit card was identified through video surveillance from one of the stores where it had been used. The man’s whereabouts were unknown and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On April 5, 2017 around 6:00 p.m. the officer investigating this credit card incident, observed the man walking in the area of Princess Street and Colborne Street. The man was stopped and arrested.
Shawn Fraser, 35 years, of Murray Street in Chatham was arrested and charged with:
– Theft Under $5000
– Fraud Under $5000 x 10
– Use of Credit Card x 10
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with a court date of Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
