The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 137 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Man Charged with Assault CK16024790
Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a vacation home on Rose Beach Line. At this time, a Windsor woman reported that she had been assaulted by her common-law.
The 22-year-old Windsor man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released pending a future court date of August 26, 2016.
Man Charged with Theft CK16024821
Yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. police responded to the area of Park Avenue East in Chatham as the man was observed going through vehicles parked at Meritor. The man was located in the area and through investigation found to be in possession of a set of keys belonging to an employee who left his vehicle unlocked with the keys inside.
The 53-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16024829
On July 13, 2016 the man was released from custody by Halton Regional Police with conditions not to conduct any in car driving instructions to any female students.
Chatham-Kent Police subsequently received information that the man was in Chatham and had provided in car driving instructions with female students on two different occasions.
Yesterday, police located the man and he was arrested. The 52-year-old Oakville man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police Looking for Witnesses CK16024735
On August 3, 2016 around 10:00 p.m. police received a call about an erratic driver on Richmond Street in Chatham. An officer on general patrol located the gold Intrepid on Lacroix Street near Grand Avenue East. The officer initiated a traffic stop and recognized the driver as a man currently wanted on an outstanding warrant and suspended from driving. The officer advised the man that he was under arrest and asked him to turn off the car. As the man failed to comply with the officer’s request, the officer reached in the vehicle to remove the keys from the ignition, the man accelerated dragging the officer approximately 10 feet. The officer was able to free himself from the moving vehicle before sustaining any serious injuries. The officer returned to his cruiser and pursued the man who began driving in excess of 100km/h on Sandys Street. The man eventually pulled into a parking lot and fled on foot. Officers flooded the area, however the 46-year-old Chatham man was not located.

London Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16024864
On July 18, 2014 the woman was released from custody pending a future court date.
On December 5, 2014, the woman failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Yesterday, the woman was arrested in London. The 31-year-old London woman was released pending a future court date of August 16, 2016.
Man Charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK16024838
Late yesterday afternoon, police responded to Sobeys on Park Avenue West in Chatham as a man was found sleeping on their picnic table.
The 46-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. For his own safety, he was transported to police custody, as he was unable to care for himself.
He will be released when sober.
