Traffic Enforcement

The Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Management Unit would like to remind truck drivers that the Reduced Load Restrictions are in place on many roads throughout Chatham-Kent until April 30th. Until that time, Commercial Vehicles are not allowed to exceed 5000kgs per axle on those roads to help protect the infrastructure of the roadway during the spring thaw. The Traffic Management Unit has been out with their scales weighing trucks to ensure compliance with the restriction. The fines range from $125 to $5000 and if the vehicle is grossly overloaded then the driver could be asked to off-load before being allowed to continue.
