Door-to Door Canvassers
The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind citizens about personal safety and rights as consumers.
As the nice weather approaches, citizens may see an increase in people canvassing to sell products. When someone solicits you at home, please consider these tips;
– Never invite a stranger inside your home
– Ask the person for identification, if they don’t have ID, don’t give them money and ask them to leave
– If the solicitor refuses to leave after being asked to or becomes irate, shut the door. If they still don’t leave, obtain their physical descriptors and call police immediately.
– If they are selling a product, ask for literature about the item and tell the salesperson you intend to research them and the product.
Protect yourself by trusting your instincts. If it just doesn’t feel right then it probably isn’t.
